Each June, New York City becomes a lot more colorful as businesses throughout the city hang a pride flag on their storefronts. However, the symbolism of this flag runs deeper. In 1999, President Bill Clinton declared June “Gay & Lesbian Pride Month.” In 2021, President Joe Biden updated June to “LGBTQ Pride Month.” With New York City being so culturally diverse, it is the perfect place for celebrating Pride Month and how far the community has come. Celebrate Pride Month in Midtown at Rockefeller Center. Through the month of June, Pride Summer Movie Nights features movies that celebrate LGBTQ+ pride.
