When you think of New York City, you probably think of bright lights, rich history, live entertainment, and great food. It’s true; our city is full of amazing restaurants, and many of them are just a short walk from The Concorde Hotel.
Here is a list of some of our favorites, ranked according to distance. The Crab House is the closest, but Fraunce’s Tavern is worth the trek! Read on to find out more.
Crab House is just down the road from The Concorde Hotel. They pride themselves on serving fresh seafood—even at their buffet! They offer a contactless, all-you-can-eat seafood menu for a fixed price every day. Drinks are not included in the price, and while you will not be charged if you don’t finish everything you order, you will be charged if you wish to take your uneaten plate home.
Be sure to try their signature drink, the “Scorpion Bowl!”
This classy Pan-Asian restaurant is a six-minute walk from the hotel. It offers a variety of seating and a giant Buddha centerpiece. From sushi to filet mignon to lobster and kimchee [sic] fried rice, there is something to please everyone. They also offer a long list of wine, beer, sake, and specialty cocktails.
Whether you’re looking for a slice or a whole pie, Margari Pizza delivers (literally)! They have some of the best pizza around, as well as soup, salad, pasta, subs, and burgers. You can even order a gluten-free pizza.
If you’re in the mood for Indian food, there is no better spot than Chola. First opened in 1998, its newly renovated space and the menu caters to business people who may be on their lunch break or trying to impress a client. In the evening, it transforms into a fine dining restaurant with Lobster Butter Pepper Marsala, Punjabi Shrimp Curry, and plenty of vegan/vegetarian options.
They are even kind enough to offer a heat guide on the menu if spice is (or isn’t) your thing.
For authentic Greek food in a Mediterranean atmosphere, this is the place to go. Avra Madison Estiatorio boasts an open kitchen with a display of fresh seafood. If that seems fancy, it is! This restaurant is on the pricier side, but you won’t leave disappointed.
Known for its craft beer hall, this restaurant is a great place to hang out, drink a cold one, and enjoy some classic bar food. They also offer a delicious brunch menu featuring Bloody Marys and a selection of creative brunch cocktails.
This diner is currently closed due to the pandemic, but the website hints that they may plan to reopen alongside Broadway in September. This is a classic 1950s-style diner with a New York City twist. Enjoy a meal while the singing waitstaff (many of whom are Broadway hopefuls) serenades you with show tunes.
You can’t go wrong with a good barbecue. Virgil’s offers staples like Collard Greens with Ham Hock, Texas Beef Brisket, and Carolina Pulled Pork. They also sport a couple of edgier menu items, like the Trainwreck Fries. Known for having some of the best ribs in the country, as well as being one of the most kid-friendly restaurants, Virgil’s is a great place to unwind and eat some good grub during your trip.
This elegant restaurant, located in Chelsea Market, offers Asian fusion cuisine and prides itself on presentation as well as flavor. They offer tasting menus to parties of four or more, and if you are only visiting NYC, we highly recommend this option. It’s a great way to experience all Buddakan has to offer.
Top Chef contestant Dale Talde was once employed as a sous chef here.
This is another great spot if you’re looking for dinner and a show—but only if you enjoy entertainment that’s spooky! The theme here is “haunted 1930s English Explorer’s Club.” The menu includes burgers, French onion soup, fried chicken, fish & chips, and a few themed options.
What you really go here for, however, is to meet mummies, werewolves, Frankenstein’s monster, and Dr. Jekyll himself. Visit this cool place in the West Village.
If you find yourself in the Financial District, you must stop at Fraunces Tavern. This landmarked building has been a bar and restaurant for 250 years. From grilled cheese to Scotch eggs to charcuterie boards, you’re sure to find something on the menu that appeals to you.
Eat, drink, and be sure to soak in some history at the Fraunces Tavern Museum.
